Please tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Debra Aufdemberge and I have been an Interior Designer for 20 years. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design and started my career in Arizona and California working for Ethan Allen. After I moved to Wisconsin I started working for Sherwin-Williams. I have worked as part of the Milwaukee District Color Consultant Team since 2010.
How would you describe your personal style?
Our Milwaukee Color Consultant Team at Sherwin-Williams strives to help each homeowner find color solutions for their own unique style. Everyone appreciates color and design in a different way. Our 90 minute in-home color consultations give the customer and consultant ample time to discuss the customer’s individual goals and find the right colors to achieve them.
What advice do you have for homeowners looking to repaint or redecorate their homes?
I would advise homeowners to take advantage of our In-Home Color Consultation Program at Sherwin-Williams. We make it easy and affordable to create a custom color palette with our customers for the interior and/or exterior of their homes. There is currently a $95 fee for the program. However, each customer receives a $50 gift card that can be used at any Sherwin-Williams store for paint or supplies when they purchase a color consultation. The $45 difference goes to pay for the time and services of the color consultant in color coordinating the perfect palette.
Are there any interior designs that have been trending in the area? If so, what are they?
The current color design trends are focusing more on warmer colors that can be found in nature such as greens and spice colors like saffron and curry. However, I do caution my clients that trends come and go and that what is in vogue today may be out of style tomorrow. So, I encourage them to choose colors that they are comfortable with and that reflect their personal tastes and styles.
Can you tell us about a project you’re working on or one you’ve particularly enjoyed?
I just finished working on the exterior color design of Juniper 61 restaurant off of North Avenue in Wauwatosa. The owners wanted a historical scheme with a twist. We were all pleased with the results! I’ve also included the pictures along with pictures of an Edwardian home in Oconomowoc and a 1930’s bungalow in Whitefish Bay.
